Welcome to the Whatcom County MRC's online data source
The purpose of this part of the MRC's website is to showcase some of the existing datasets that relate to the marine resources of Whatcom County. You can select to view one of several datasets, and chose to view the data on a county-wide level, or else view some previously selected locations within the county.
Below each the maps are several links. The top link is a pdf file that features a higher quality, printer-friendly version of the map that you are looking at. Typically the pdf files are around 175 kb in size (except for the county-wide maps which are around 500 kb) and may take a couple of minutes to download on slower dialup connections. If you do not already have the capability to read pdf documents, then you can download the free Adobe Acrobat reader here.
The two other links below the map provide more information about the map on the webpage. The legend link opens another small window that shows what the symbols that are used in the map represent. The metadata link opens another window that contains information about where the data can be sourced, and other information such as when the data was collected and what other kinds of information were also collected along with it.
